SOCIAL IMPACT

Our Collaborators and Families

GIS promotes and carries out actions and programs aimed at the development and well-being of our employees, their families and the communities where we operate. For GIS, education is a factor for the comprehensive development of people, therefore, in addition to promoting the personal and professional growth of its employees through training, it promotes educational development for the community.

Grupo Industrial Saltillo is one of the pioneers of the Mexican Dual Training Model, which allows the development of high school students as a result of an education that is 50% theoretical and 50% practical directly in the company, which is currently promoted at a national level by the Mexican Business Council.

We promote the creation and development of schools aimed at training children and young people, such as the Colegio México and the Don Bosco Technological Institute in Saltillo, where we also give scholarships to the children of our collaborators so that they can pursue technical careers. In addition, we recognize the effort and commitment of the children of our collaborators with an average grading equal to or greater than 9.5 as a boost to their own development.

We promote and participate in actions aimed at caring for and protecting the environment with the support of our collaborators in the communities where we participate.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Environmental Strategy

A Vision for the Future

In GIS, we share the conviction that success and long-term permanence depend on our capacity to generate a sustainable development based on our workers, innovation, productivity, and the efficiency of all the processes that we use and on the unlimited respect to the moral standards of our Code of Ethics and to the environment.

Achieving the preservation and sustainability of the communities where we operate is a commitment we assume with thorough responsibility; seeking every time to reduce the environmental footprint of our business processes. We express our awareness to deliver to the future generations a better world and environment than the one we received.

As part of our commitment to protect the environment, GIS has an Environmental Protection Policy which sets action guidelines for its team. We account with the ISO-14001 certification and the Clean Industry Certificate issued by the “Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente”, on behalf of the Mexican Federal Government.

Performance Indicators

In GIS, we are continuously tracking performance indicators of the most representative environmental agents along our manufacturing processes. In order to minimize our environmental impact, we define targets for the use of each environmental agent through the utilization of Business Environmental Score Cards.

The most representative agents that we monitor for every business unit we operate are: energetics and natural resources, such as electricity, natural gas, LP gas, diesel, gasoline; recyclable packaging materials and water from different sources; as well as, generation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in order to calculate the quantity of equivalent CO2 that we produce per operation in all our manufacturing processes.
